Fluenta employee spotlight: Hector Gonzalez

1.Tell us a little about yourself.

My name is Hector Gonzalez; I have a degree in chemical engineering with 2 minors, one in Waste water Treatment and the other in process improvement. In 2006 I moved to the US from Mexico where I became a consultant. In Nov 2014 an opportunity at Fluenta Inc opened up for me, and I gladly accepted. I now live in Katy Texas with my family: Eddie; Daniel, Christine and our dog Tommy.

2. What is your role at Fluenta?

I am a Service Engineer at Fluenta, which is exciting adventure because no problem is the same and no customer has the same needs. I love tailoring solutions to our clients and exploring new business opportunities with them at the same time.

3. How did you first learn about Fluenta?

A close friend had asked me to help them with a project and so I started researching ultrasonic technology to help. After handing over my research, he called and invited me to form part of his team at Fluenta Inc. I gladly said yes to the invitation and after tests and interviews I was asked to join the Fluenta family.

4. What do you like most about Fluenta?

Everything – where do I start! The Fluenta team’s attitude, commitment, loyalty, and drive to do everything better in a fast changing environment is what makes every day a moment to enjoy fully.  I love the open door policy and the way that all ideas are valued, put in to practice or nurtured to develop new market approaches.

5. What would people never guess you do in your role?

I act as a teacher too, helping and advising our customers through each process. At Fluenta a lot of care is placed on providing the best service there is – and in the fastest way possible.

6. What has been your favorite project at Fluenta?

Every project is unique and presents an opportunity for improvement. The most interesting for me was in Point Thompson in Alaska. The cold, the flow pressure and the incredible view made it very exciting!

7. If you could switch your job with anyone else within Fluenta, whose job would you want?

I would like to try working in the research and development department. Exploring new possibilities and finding ways to improve processes or products is something that really interests me.

8. What advice do you have for prospective Fluenta candidates?

Be ready to learn and improve beyond what you think is your limit. You will continue to grow and grow – as long as you are willing to put the effort in.

9. What are 3 words to describe Fluenta?

Knowledge, commitment, excitement.

10. What is your proudest moment at Fluenta?

The development of the Fluenta Inc data base and the procedure for the replacing the T17 meter with an FGM -160 model.

11. What kinds of hobbies and interests do you have outside of work?

Outdoors I love to swim and run, but if I am inside I like to play dominoes, chess and go bowling. What really triggers my interest is technology and science – I will disassemble and re-arrange almost anything (except my wife’s closet – remember, safety first!).
